2011 Reflections

Well! It's a new year! We are 12 days in, and I can already tell it's going to fly by. Our life here in the North may be a bit colder than most, but we don't notice because we're always running around doing things with family, friends, church, work, and the list goes on... I enjoy staying busy, but I sure do love those "do nothing" nights at home.

As I enter this new year, I can't help but take a quick look back at all the lovely things that took place in 2011.

I kicked off 2011 in the North with my family-to-be. I barely remember New Years Eve as I passed out not long after the ball dropped. ;)

Eight days later I served as maid of honor for some of my most beautiful friends in Missouri. I watched as lives, and love were pledged, and I have to admit I got a little misty as I considered my own nuptials coming just a few weeks down the road.

February was the month of showers! Corey and I had our home shower in the North, with our sweet church family, hosted by Corey's parents. It was so special, and all of our friends were so kind to us.

I also was given a gorgeous shower by my precious sister in February. It was such a lovely day!

Corey moved into our new home, and I threatened that he was not to as much as think about putting a single hole in the wall until I got there... ;)

February also brought our engagement photo shoot! Our photographers were so sweet, and so creative! We had the best time!

In March, my mom finished my fabulous wedding gowns. They were exactly what I wanted, and she put so much love into them! Thank you, Mom, for adding so much to my perfect day! :)

April. What a fabulous month. :) On April 9th, 2011, I married my the most amazing man in the world. My love, my life, my best friend. It was a perfect, perfect day. The weather was incredible, the sun shown brightly. I was surrounded by friends and family, old and new. On that day, all the planning, all the stress, all the tears were well worth it. It was beautiful and exactly what I had always dreamed of. :)

We took our 7 night cruise in the Eastern Caribbean, which absolutely changed our lives...and our waistlines. ;)

We arrived in our new home on April 17th, and on that day, we got a blizzard which delivered us 6 inches of snow. In April. Welcome to the North! :)

In May, I started my new job and I still love it!

June, July, and August are a blur of work, church functions, family vacation in California, camps, and sweet summer nights filled with barbeques and fun friend and family times.

September and October were busy with back to school activities, rallies, Oktoberfest and oh yes, Hand Foot and Mouth Disease for me; an illness only small children are suppoeed to catch. Leave it to me to catch everything!

November! BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!!! I got presents throughout the month, the theme being (of course) Hello Kitty!!! :)

We had a lovely Thanksgiving with such sweet friends! It was a beautiful day with wonderful food and great time with our friends, along with an awesome Packer win! :)

On Birthday Week, we had dinner with Corey's family and several of our friends at our favorite steak house. On my birthday night, Corey took me to my favorite place, good ol' Olive Garden! The next day I went shopping with my in-laws and low and behold, my sister walked into H&M and shocked my socks off! What a perfect surprise!!! :)

The next night I was surprised again with an amazingly HUGE Hello Kitty surprise party thrown by my sweet husband!!! It was one of the most amazing parties I've ever had. Thanks baby! :)

Decemember brought preparations for a wonderful Christmas. We enjoyed a wonderful program put on by our sweet ATC children. We also were blessed to be apart of ATC's Music Department's Christmas Concert, He's Here! What a great way to celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Christmas was at our home this year! Corey made a DELISH breakfast and we had a cold lunch with Mom while we watched all the Christmas classics. It was a lovely, relaxing day!

We also hosted New Year's in our home with a few of our close friends and family. Thank you Seth and Evelyn for starting 2012 with a bang! ;) The improv comedy started about 1:00am, and continued until we laughted until we cried. What a fun way to ring in the new year!

And here we are, January 12, 2012. I am sick again, sinus infection this time. But I am blessed to be able to stay in while we enjoy our first blizzard, Snow Storm Angela.

This year, I am looking forward to several weddings of close friends, seeing my parents in September, and another wonderful set of holidays. The blessings we enjoyed in 2011 will only get better as we keep building our relationship with our pastor and his family, and our church family. Its amazing how wonderful it feels to have so many people caring and praying for us!

Looking forward to a bright new year!
